INTACS

Postby malik » Wed 30 Mar 2016 5:30 pm

I have been diagnosed Keratacnos 9 years back, and now i am 36 y old. At the moment I am under Moorfields eye hospital London. They have taken me through the following stages;

1 - Kerasoft lenses
2 - Hard lenses
3 -Screal lenses

But, all above options didn't help me, makes my eyes tired and brain too. I am just tired with the lenses as I have huge problem of dry eyes.

I am just thinking to have INTACS procedure, does the INTACS are available on NHS?

Also, please suggest me that INTACS option is safe? Any one have this procedure??

Please Help me.

God Bless You

Malik

Intacs are available on the NHS at most of the larger hospitals that see KC patients. They have been approved by NICE, which means they are judged to be safe for use in the NHS. And they work very well for some people, improving the vision and making contact lens fitting easier. But (and there's always a but!) around 10% of Intacs fitted are removed because they don't help that individual, or because of complications like seeing the edge of the Intacs. If you put Intacs into the search on this forum, you'll find a large number of posts on the topic, some very positive and some negative. So not an easy decision to make.
