North East- Help

Postby andyhill0907 » Mon 29 Sep 2014 2:09 pm

Hey everyone,

I was diagnosed with KC 2 years ago at the age of 20, I was referred to the RVI but i found them to be completely useless to me i visited the hospital 5 times and never saw the same person twice which I didn't feel comfortable with. On top of this nobody no matter how hard i asked could explain in depth my situation or options available to me they just kept saying 'Look on the net.' Anyways I got so disheartened with this experience i never went back.
After recently visiting my opticians and finding out my KC is getting worse without treatment he suggested I try looking up consultants in the North East, He told me the Sunderland Eye Hospital is very good. I've had a look online but couldn't find any specific consultants who specialize in KC.
So my question is has anybody got any recommendations on where to go and who to see?

Thanks
Andrew

Hi Andrew and welcome to the forum,
I'm afraid not seeing the same person twice is a pretty common experience in most hospitals! But we have quite a few members who go to the Sunderland Eye Infirmary for their KC and are happy with it. And if you'd like our information booklet on KC and the DVD of our 2013 conference which covered most of the options just e-mail your postal address to anne@keratoconus-group.org.uk and I'll post them to you.
Anne
