Hi,

I had a cornea transplant (penetrating keratoplasty) 4 weeks ago and the hospital are pleased with the progress of the graft so far.

I currently have a dry eye in the eye that was operated on. The doctor told me that this was quite common and told me to take some artificial tears eye drops when required. Are there any other symptoms that anyone has suffered from post operation that are normal?

Dry eye is a very common symptom after eye surgery. I used clinics soothe to easy mine.

Your vision may fluctuate. Do not simply put this down to the 'normal' settling of your eye. Go to your eye care specialist (in Scotland we can walk into any high street optometrist, they will look at our eyes and if they think we need to be seen by an ophthalmologist, they can get us an early appointment.) If necessary go to your Ophthalmology ER.

You may see 'halos', especially at night around artificial lighting. Again, don't be complacent about this. If it worries you, get it checked.

I guess what I am saying is that there re things that are 'normal' in the sense that they are shared, but that does not mean that they are not serious. For example, dry eye if left alone can become very serious.

and it's especially important to keep up with lubricants when you get to wearing a lens on that graft
