Hello All

Just after some more advice please.

I am 28 years old and currently wearing only one contact lens on my right eye (my better eye). left eye cant torelate a lens.

Went for a checkup on Tuesday and had a topography done, the right eye (wearing a lens) hasnt changed since August 2012 which i am pleased about, No sign of damage or high pressure in either of the eyes.

However the lady said my left eye has become significantly worst since my last scan, and mentioned that i should consider either wearing a lens on the eye, discuss crosslinking or intacts and even mentioned a graph.

She said it was my decision but i am after abit of advice. I am currently seeing the bottom line on the chart which i am happy about but its obviously my brain ignoring my bad left eye.

She also mentioned that they have changed machines recently and the readings could be different using different machines.

Thanks

Wow, the bottom line lol... I'd love to be able to see that again. How far can you see with just your left eye?

Can I ask, what lens are you wearing atm? If it's a hybrid or RGP you could try a soft lens perhaps Kerasoft or such in the left eye? I'm afraid I don't know much about them as I'm to pick up my first pair next week... but someone else will be along soon with more experience.

Thanks for the reply

I am using an rgp on my right eye it's a larger size one but still a rgp ! They are very happy with my right eye and combined vision but I can't even see the top line with my left unaided, I have tried a Lens on the left but it's uncomftable but I can see a few lines further down

Kieran,

I think it would be worth looking at other lens options for your left eye. There are lots of different lenses and hopefully you may find one that suits you.

Just because one design of RGP was intolerable doesn't mean that they all will be. Different designs sit in a slightly different position on the cornea. When I had some problems with an intolerable RGP about ten years ago I was given a Rose K lens which is of a slightly smaller diameter than some of the other designs. For me there was still some residual ghosting which I didn't notice when I was also wearing a lens in my left eye.

Have you tried piggybacking? I was amazed at the difference it made to my a right eye. Three years ago my right eye was refitted with a different design which gave better vision and was a good fit but after three weeks' daily wear would become intolerable (for no obvious reason). It is now very comfortable with the addition of a soft disposable lens underneath.

Good luck with your search for a new lens,

Lia
