Hello Peeps,
Well, if it's not one thing it's another...

Just got the eczema round my eyes and neck sorted. Today I was doing some language work in "the den" in our house, which was recently cleaned up. There was thick, black mould (euuuuhhhhhgggg) in the window sills behind piles of stuff that had sat there for years-all gone now, but I suspect the spores are probably at large, having been rubbed away left, right and centre and now in the carpets/in the air.

I'm been having major hayfever-nose (literally dripping) since being in there today. Just went out to get myself some Beconase nasal spray, but I can't use it, as I'm allergic to benzalkonium chloride that's the preservative in it.

I have to work in that room for the next few weeks, as it's the only place with a PC where I can use my fab language software. It won't run on my Mac.

Does anyone know of a preservative-free nasal spray which might help?
I'm already taking Telfast, an antihistamine, but it's doing naff all.

Isn't there a language software option that you could run on your vastly superior Mac?

As to nasal spray, I'm afraid I can't help. I sometimes use Rhinocort, but I couldn't tell you if it is preservative free.

I think most pump action nasel sprays if not all have a preservative. This is because they are all multi dose and not single use.

An inhaler or a neasel inhaler in a pressured meterd dose inaler (MDI) are usually preservative free because the can contains no air, just propellant and a small amount of ethanol. These are multidose, but i beleive there are very few MDI nasel inhalers, they are usually oral.

Somthing like this for hayfever or tablets may be your only options.

The pharmacist might be worth talking to as they are usually clued up more on medicines and their ingredients than the GP. GP's usually go on the active ingredient.

Andrew...it's not raining where I am...(although ever increasing shades of greyness would tend to indicate that rainfall is imminent. It may well be raining on the seafront, though!

I'd be oh-so-happy to find equivalent language software for the Mac. Alas, the several hundred quid involved in such an investment rapidly led me to the conclusion that seeing the pharmacist might be simpler...

Question for you:
How come there isn't an emoticon with big, red swollen eyes or watery eyes on a KC website??
