Pain after stitch removal

Hey there!
Just wondered how others here have felt after having stitches removed. I understand that running stitches would be painful but i have just had two removed again yesterday and am still in pain. I didn't really have any with the earlier stitches, a few hours and then it was gone.
One was longer though this time so maybe that is why? Am taking regular analgesia and an anti-inflammatory so maybe i just need to wait. It is more of a really strong ache and throbbing feeling but dam annoying as it is giving me a headache and i need to work tomorrow! It is marathon day as well so i am expecting it to be busy as we are the main on call hospital for it again.
No vision changes yet but it is really early, hehe just can't wait! LOL!!!
Ok time for bed i think to rest it as i'm sure that a lack of sleep is not helping.

The removal of any suture will alter the strain taken by the rest. It may be that your pain is due to the strain being felt at a different point in your eye.
Still, if it persists into next week, I think I'd suggest you go to the first aid room to see the nurse. She will, no doubt, advise you to pop back to the clinic so that they are aware of the pain you are siffering.

I remember removing my stitches last time. They gave me anesthetic drops to use if necessary. I didn`t need them. I`ve had a lasik later, and that is worse..

You may not actually notice any vision changes, for better or worse, as the corneal surface may just be to distorted. Without my glasses I have distorted vision...and have alyways had that.....even when I had sututres removed it was the same.....the real difference came when I was being refracted and had glasses...as the lens strenght decreased...

i dont know about the subject - but it seems that everything keratoconus related is painful - irritating contacts, corneal grafts - everything...

Keratoconus has its moments, but it is not all on the downside. In a forum like this we meet all sorts of interesting people: Welsh Nurses, English women with their own Borg suits, Scientists, computer experts, medical students ... what a wonderfully rich opportunity is open to us because we have an odd eye condition of which few people have ever heard and fewer still can pronounce.
the great thing about the forum is that we can learn of different and potentially less irritating types of contact lens, and even about new surgical procedures that are becoming available.

When I have stitches taken out my eye is sore and uncomfortable for two or three days. A couple of years ago I had three out at once and found it really hard to work the next day

but it soon settled down.

suture removals seem to be soo unique judging from this thread....when I have had mine out I have not had any sort of pain what so ever...maybe an hour or twos odd sensation......as far as I can recall
