Exercise post corneal graft

Hello all,

I hope everyone is well?

I had a DALK nearly two weeks ago now , thankfully my recovery is going well and the eye is healing nicely :)

I was just wondering how quickly people have returned to exercise? Obviously I won't be returning for a while but I would love to hear others experiences. I normally run,cycle,yoga/pilates and weights (have stopped weights due to pressure on the eye). I have made the decision not to swim anymore as this is my second graft and my eyes are too dear to me to risk them. I am currently just walking the dog and have been out to town a couple of times but am taking it easy aside from that, no bending/hoovering etc

Any advice is very much appreciated, with best wishes and I hope everyone well :)

x

That's Ok, I have sent many a mis spelt email! The joys of KC :)

No it's my right eye thankfully,I had a full thickness graft on my left eye 11 years ago now, scary how quickly time goes!

Will post how I get on with exercise and will ask my consultant in a month as to what I can.

Happy healing, Sky! I was never into strenuous exercise, so all I remember from my post op days many years ago was being told to avoid any heavy lifting for 6 months or so. Let us know what your consultant says - I'm sure people have asked this question before on the forum.
