That was exactly the way I felt. It was a wonderful surprise when we found that our first was a daughter, and then again when we found our second was a son.

25 and 23 years later they are both still a delight.

I've had my eyes moulded twice.
It sounds quite horrific!! - but actually, it isn't at all bad really.
The first few drops of anaesthetic sting. You'll know they're working because after the first few drops they stop stinging.
The hardest part is sitting still and not fidgetting while the pinkish paste stuff dries.
They do one eye at a time, so keep looking fixedly out of the other eye and not looking at the syringe of moulding pink paste stuff approaching!
Make sure you have a good look at the results once the moulding is done and they take them out of your eyes - they're rather fascinating.
As regards red eyes -
it does take a while for eyes to get used to having a contact lens in - and a new type of contact lens.
Eyes certainly go red when the lens has been in for too long - it is a sign it is telling you it wants a break, please.
SOmetimes this can be remarkably quickly - for example if I have hay fever, a cold, a hangover (wot's one of them???!) or other problem, or the lens doesn't fit as well as it should.
My personal experience with sclerals is that I can tell whether it's going to work out almost as soon as it goes in. Even in the early days, they felt very strange and uncomfortable if I turned my head quickly, but they weren't painful - unless i left them in too long.
Your mileage may vary.
I certaily started by building the time up very slowly, and starting from vry short initial periods. Two hours a day, increasing by half an hour every three days, IIRR.
Good luck with them!
(and the baby)
