Thanks for your advice everyone, i think i'll do what knight suggests and take a doctors cover note with me. It's so ridiculous but i understand why they have to do it. I think its a good idea to cut a couple of my amidose open and have them sealed in a bag. I know im gonna have to put them in/out on the plane but if i do get stuck i will ask the cabin crew!

Oh the joys of KC.......................
thanks sarah x

p.s im now gonna plan what to take with me.........hmmmmmm how many bottles of amidose, saline, soap, scissors, tissues, cleaner, towels.......!

Have you booked in with the airline as a "special needs" passenger?
If so, can you add on the fact you will need to have ampoules opened while on board?
If not, can you contact them and add it in?
I would not guarantee, particularly at Heathrow, that even a doctor's letter will stop them nicking your scissors.
OTOH, I wouldn't guarantee that if you pack a bag full of all sorts of strange clobber that the scissors won't slip through unnoticed.
I once got stopped at Zestienhoven (Rotterdam) with a Swiss army knife in my bag - I thought I'd remembered to leave it at home, but there it was ..... which means it must have gone straight through all the security at London City on the way out, along with my laptop, mains lead, adaptors, moden lead, etc etc. And I thought Lucy security was pretty hot!!
The swiss army knife is still with me - the Zestienhoven bods let me go back and check a rucksack in after all (I'd been for a long weekend meeting and had hoped to go hand baggage only.

The other question is, even if you get the scissors through LHR, whether you'll get it through Auckland (I presume?) on the way home......
(BTW, in case your travel agent has told you your ticket is "all in" and no more to pay - it ain't true. You'll be stung for departure tax in NZ Dollars cash before they let you thorugh the security - many folks don't realise this and get turned back from theX-ray machines.)
