Hi,
i am a suffer of the disease and my right eye is far gone and what ive been told unsaveable i have had the condition saved in my left eye with CX this was about 2.5 years ago.
Since this i have had lenses which work fine for the day times.
Recently in the last couple of months however i have noticed that my eye lid on the eye i wear the lens in is quite puffy and it looks rather odd! its not major but its annoying because its very noticable in photos when i smile and i get conscious does anyone know about this or have the same problem?
Thanks Ollie

Re: Eye Lid issues
Hello Ollie and welcome to the forum,
I think puffy or swollen eyelids are quite common in contact lens wearers and can be caused by a number of things including wearing the lenses for too long, a reaction to the contact lens solutions, an infection called blepharitis and probably others. Are you getting any other symptoms like the eye watering or a discharge from the eye? Only an optometrist looking at your eyelid (including turning it over to look at the underneath of the lid) can really tell you the cause in your case and give you eyelid hygiene tips to go with the contact lens hygiene tips we all need to follow. So do get this looked at but you'll probably find there are simple things you can do to help.

Re: Eye Lid issues
Hi Ollie,
As Anne says eye-lid problems are a serious issue for contact-lens wearers. I have found my eye-lids are very sensitive, which requires me to establish a rigorous hygiene routine. Additionally I found that I am allergic to the preserving agents in most eye treatment, I was even allergic to the anti-biotics they gave me for eye-lid infections/blepharitis (or the preservatives in them). I now make sure that all my eye treatments are preservative free.
