Re: KC in soap
You're not missing much, I preferred ER too, all that 'Ok people lets notify the O.R.', and doctors straddled across patients on the trolley doing CPR..and George Clooney..
KC was described as "damage to the cornea", and patient instructed to stop driving and would be referred 'for treatment' and hopefully wouldn't go blind. No mention of lenses.
Reminds me of a Nursing Times article years ago which stated grafts couldn't fail due there being no direct blood supply.
Films are even funnier, there's an Asian horror called 'The Eye' where a woman has grafts, cue big bandages all around the head, and blurry to 20/20 within 5 minutes of the bandages being taken off..then she started seeing the experiences of the donors, nice touch.

Re: KC in soap
can the charity write a official letter to the beeb to educate them on behalf of the wider KC community? as surely this is something the charity needs to be stomping down on? this misinformation n ignorance will incite fear and scaremongering
May09 Diagnosed with KC, March 2010 after a failed transplant it has left me legally blind a long cane user (since 2010) who is blind in a once sighted world

Re: KC in soap
Yeah I heard about that movie, at least it's meant to be kind of stupid!
I remember seeing radiotherapy in EastEnders... and the radiographers stood behind a sheet of glass whilst treatment was given. I work in radiotherapy and in reality there's an 8 foot thick concrete wall between the patient and the radiographers. Oh well can't win them all I suppose
