I am waiting to hear from the hospital

Postby smck_82uk » Fri 17 May 2013 1:56 pm

Hi there

I found out I suffer from keratoconus last August and was prescribed glasses at Boots Opticians, I paid over £100 for two sets of glasses which did me fine for a while but earlier this year I was getting alot of eye strain so went back in February and Boots contacted the hospital for me to get looked at for contacts, that was the beginning of February and I still haven't heard from the hospital yet, does anyone know when I am likely to hear from them as my new set of frames are giving me eye strain alot now and I really think I need the contacts.

Many thanx

As it's over 3 months, I'd be ringing the hospital to check whether the referral actually arrived or has got lost in a black hole somewhere!

Thanx for replying so soon Anne.

The thing is I have no idea which hospital to contact. I am in Central Scotland & the people at Boots said it could be Stirling or Falkirk then later said it could be Glasgow or Edinburgh.

Its really getting me down.

Then why don't you get back to the Boots branch you went to and chase it up with them. Failing that, ask your GP to refer you to a hospital eye clinic. Gartnavel in Glasgow sees a lot of KC patients and has a good contact lens department.
Good luck!

I have asked them about it three times now & each time they told me they can't control how long it takes to hear back.

I don't know if going to my doctor could speed things up if Boots can't?

I guess I'll just have to be patient & hope I hear something soon.

Hi, Where are you in central Scotland? Im in Stirling, and the only hospital that deals with refferals is Falkirk Community Hospital, thats probably the best one to try if you are in Falkirk/Stirling area

I am near Falkirk and yes Falkirk Community Hospital is where I have been told I will be going.

Hopefully hear from them soon.
