yes it varies, stitches can be removed at different points depending on different factors such as the shape of the graft, whether the stitches are coming loose, so they can be removed before a year. It also depends on whether they are 'continuous' or 'interrupted' or a combination of both.
With my first graft I had a continuous suture which was removed after one year. With the second graft 4 stitches were removed much earlier because they became loose and set off episodes of rejection, they had to be replaced.
