Postby GarethB » Thu 21 Feb 2013 7:14 pm

National Institute for Health & Clinical Excelence commonly known as NICE (http://www.nice.org.uk) has scheduled for their Interventional Procedures Advisory Committee (IPAC) to discuss Photochemical corneal cross linkage using riboflavin and ultraviolet A for keratoconus (Current Guidance) on Thursday 14 March 2013 .

The updated guidance report is scheduled for publication in the summer of 2013.

Thanks Gareth. So do you know whether the 4 week public consultation on the revised guidelines referred to at www.nice.org.uk/IP/724 is happening after this meeting? I'd posted about this review on the forum several months ago when it was first announced, and we've alerted members in the coming newsletter (currently at the printers) encouraging them to take part in the consultation. But this rather sounds as though the consultation has been forgotten about?

From the Agenda Photochemical corneal cross linkage using riboflavin and ultraviolet A for keratoconus is under item 10 Newly Notified Procedures with part 1 & 2 (open and closed session) and item 11 is the Public Consultation comments.

It might be that this meeting is part of the public consultation or precurser to it with a later meetings where the public conultation comments are discussed before the report is published in the Summer this year. My understanding is that there have been some delays in this subject being discussed so I am fully expecting the report to be delayed until later in the year.
