Hi, I have Keratoconus and am planning (results depending) on going to Uni in September.
On Thursday I have a DSA assessment to see what I may need to help me at Uni. I do wear hard contact lenses which improve my vision, however I struggle to keep them in all day and this worry's me as i will need to be working for long hours some days at uni.
Has anybody else on this board had a DSA assessment and can tell me what it was like and what they got to help there condition?
Also does anybody have any suggestions on what I may need at Uni to help me with my studying due to Keratoconus?
Thanks!

Re: DSA Assessemnt
Hi JCW and welcome!
Hopefully the current students on the forum haven't yet gone away for the summer and will be along to tell you more. But I know we have quite a few students here who have had very helpful disability units at their uni which have provided all sorts of help such as somebody to take notes at lectures or specialist software for laptops. Have you seen the leaflet 'supporting students with keratoconus' that you can download from the home page of this site? www.keratoconus-group.org.uk/sitev3/publications.html
All the best for good results and a great time at uni.

All the best with that. SWe have had many students on the forum, and the experience has been, by and large, that universities are willing to go the extra mile to support students with any sort of disability.
All the best with the waiting time, and your degree course beyond.
Yours aye

Cant help with the DSA, but dont downplay your problems. Think about your worst case scenario (scratched cornea so not able to wear lenses at all for days) and tell them about that possibility.
If you dont find the hard lenses comfortable have you spoken with your CL fitter to see if any of the newer softer material lenses would be more comfortable and allow you more wear time.
