Kerasoft Lenses

Postby blurrylights » Thu 30 Dec 2010 6:36 pm

Hi.

I recently enquired about getting Kerasoft lenses from my opt. They have quoted me around £350.

I was just wondering if anyone has these? And if so, are they considerably more comfortable than standard RGP lenses? I can't get used to RGP lenses (I have been using the scleral(sp?) ones) they just seem to scratch my eyes alot.

Thought i'd get some info on these before i spend that huge amount.

Thanks for your time :)

I get my contact lenses under the arrangement with the NHS that whatever lens I get costs me only about £52. It may be that you are entitled to the same sort of consideration.

As Andrew says, you could get lenses through the NHS. This requires that you are referred to a hospital clinic that fits contact lenses via your GP. However, not all clinics fit KeraSoft, so if you ring Ultravision customer services 0800 585115 they will let yo know which hospitals near your location fit them. However, you may prefer to stay with your current contact lens practitioner if it is more convenient.

KeraSoft lenses generally are more comfortable than standard RGPs, especially if you have problems tolerating RGPs. This is because they ARE soft lenses, not hard ones.

If you want more information on them, then you can visit the website http://www.kerasoft.co.uk for more information, including videos of patients describing how they got on with them.
