what is cross linking?

again, a huge thank you to everyone on this forum. i always get very worried about issues of my sight and how it will effect my ability to paint. thanks to the forum for helping me understand what opitions are available to me.
if its not to personal a question could i ask what your field of vision is like at present as i know everyone here as various levels of KC? in my case i can paint fine in my specs as i work very close up to the canvas working from a series of photographs, i wouldnt be able to paint from life as over a distance even with my specs i find it hard to see details, i can notice how many people etc are walking on the other side of the street i just wouldnt be able to recognise them. its also much worse on sunny days.
