Hi everyone,
Just thought I'd post a positive post after after my last two posts seemed to be moans and groans.
Posted a couple of times about how dissatisfied I have been with our local hospital, my experience there many years ago was very negative and it seems that things have not improved. Since my daughter has been diagnosed two years ago I have not been impressed at all with the level or interest or care she has received.
However she visited the optician last week who is based at the hospital in question and after the appt I was contacted by my daughter and she was completely different (she actually wasnt crying after this appt). The last time she rang me after her appt she was in tears - kept waiting over one and a half hours and was in with the doctor 3 mins.
However the optometrist this time firstly listened to what she was saying - sent her for a topography and has decided she needs a new lens. Dont get me wrong she is still having probs because altho her topography hasnt changed a great deal in two years - the optometrist still cant seem to get her vision very clear. Apparently my daughter has to go back in early Jan - in the meantime to optometrist is going to be contacting someone who deals with KC all the time for some advice.
The difference is that someone listened - someone seemed to care - and what a difference that makes.
Altho we are still going to be referred to a different hosp for future care as neither me or my daughter wants to set foot in the ophthalmic dept again - credit where credits due - the optometrist was spot on
PS Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Healthy New Year
Regards
Libby
