Ugh hospitals

Postby space_cadet » Thu 10 Dec 2009 1:33 pm

So back to the hospital I went this morning, appointment was 10am, got seen at 10.30am.

You may remember a fortnight ago when I went to the hospital the person I saw concluded

a) I have incredibly poor tear film
b) MAjor sensitivity to light
c) Had developed an alergic reaction to the RGP's they gave me in September (and I was advised not to wear them till my appointment today)
d) They wanted to formally diagnose me as partially sighted but wanted to wait till today's appointment
e) Wanted to try fit piggyback lenses

So how did today go?

a) Tear film has got worse
b) Couldn't tolerate either the blue light or white light on the slit lamp
c) Couldn't see any letters on the chart
d) Left cornea has more stratches on it than a fortnight ago
e) Person I saw didn't understand wh the previous person wanted to diagnose me as partially sighted and said I should wait to see consultant
f) Eyes far too dry to allow a soft lens and rigid combination so been told to scrap thinking of wearing contact lenses for now
g) Should of seen consultant after 3 months (last saw him in august) the reception checked when my appointment is and it it is in January which will be 5months after I last saw him

Conclusion

No better off than I was, eyes getting worse by the day, fed up and frustrated to hell, just sick of it and want to scream, but cheering myself up as put my wedding dvd on and moved the sofa even closer to the tv.
May09 Diagnosed with KC, March 2010 after a failed transplant it has left me legally blind a long cane user (since 2010) who is blind in a once sighted world

Lea, it seems like only this morning that we were chatting 'The book'!

I'd ask for an appointment to see your consultant ophthalmologist; there may be things he can do about your dry eyes and it may also be time now for you to think about registration. (only a consultant ophthalmologist can sign the form).
