Poorly Fitting Lenses

My daughter has been wearing lenses for her Keratocanus for some time now. She started with hard lenses but found these increasingly difficult to cope with. She has been using the piggy back system for a number of years now and this works better for her. However the shape of the lenses she wears has changed now and they do not fit at all well. As a result her vision has deteriorated and this is causing her a great deal of stress. She used to have a lens that fitted well but has been told that that shape of lens which sits on the cornea is no longer available. She is becoming very stressed as her vision is so poor due to poor lens fit. Can anyone suggest what might be done to help her. We find the Optometrist not very helpful.

Hello Honeybee and welcome to the forum.
There are other types of lenses for KC these days which might suit your daughter, for example the latest soft lenses designed specially for KC such as Kerasoft or Acuity Softs, scleral lenses which cover the whole eye so don't touch the cornea or semi sclerals such as SoClears. So it might be worth asking about those. Does your daughter go to a hospital eye clinic for her lenses? The larger hospitals tend to have more choice of lenses, so she could also think about getting referred to a different hospital.
