JACK ALLEN CONTACT LENSES

Postby Grifteruk » Fri 14 Mar 2008 1:39 pm

Hi,

Has anyone got any expericne of the Jack Allen Flex Edge lenses? They look like they are a hybrid lens made up of both RGP and soft lenses, which sound interesting.

Everyone talks about Rose K Lenses a lot but they dont work for me. I'm looking around for alternatives and would like to know about anyone elses experiences, good or bad.

Cheers

Hi. I used Flex-edge lenses for about 3/4 year - before I was wearing RGPs. I loved the flex-edge lenses, they were more comfortable, stable and best of all they never fell out. I had to stop using them just before Christmas because they are quite new lenses, and it was getting difficult to adjust them properly. Also they werent so good for oxygen permeability, and as the day went on, they would make my eyes feel really tired and dry, and feel as if they were glued to your eyes!. I am guilty of over-wearing my lenses, and I always used to find I would get pain in my eyes especially during the night when I didnt have any lenses in. I am now wearing piggyback lenses, and the pain has gone.

But, that doesnt mean they may not be for you - get some advice from your optometrist. Despite the side-effects I had with them, they were my favourite lenses simply because the didnt fall out!

Thanks Amarpal that's really useful. i'm glad that you were mentioning lenses falling out because my RGP in my left eye is starting to get more difficult to fit. Its difficult to get one that doesnt move around a lot. I'm also finding that i use piggybacks a bit in that eye so maybe these are going to be a useful solution for me.

I'm thinking that maybe i can use that lens for going out when i need that stability whilst using a different lens for in the house and simple things if they are better for me. Mix and match eh!!!

I'll give them a go and finger crossed...

Hi,

is the Flex-Edge from Jack Allen identical with the synergeyes hybrid lens? What is the difference between the Flex-Edge and the newer Flex-Edge 2. How long is the average wearing time?

Regards from Germany

Speedy
