Hello all

I have recently been diagnosed with Keratoconus and discovered this group whilst looking for information.

Although I am new to Keratoconus, I am not new to eye problems. In 2000 (when I was 21) I had a retinal venous occlusion with retinal haemorrhages in my right eye. I am also being monitored for normal tension glaucoma in both eyes due to the appearance of my optic nerves/discs.

I am 29 and also have medical conditions affecting my lungs and stomach. The Keratoconus is affecting my right eye. I had been managing okish with glasses, but my consultant referred to the hospital contact lens clinic.

I have been fitted with and am trying to get used to a lens in my right eye. I am continuing to wear sun glasses to help me with my strong dislike of bright lights and headaches.

Thanks for reading, I look forward to reading more about other people experiences.

Rachael

Rachael

Welcome to the forum. You certainly don't seem to have troubles to seek! It always seems to me to be the greatest injustice that having one eye condition does not make any of us immune to others!

Take time with your lens. It will take time to become used to wearing it.

All the best.

Andrew

Hi all

Thanks Andrew and Anne for your kind welcome to the group.

Andrew, I agree only too well with your comments about other eye conditions! I have asked both my consultant and contact lens man whether there is a link between my eye problems. Both don't seem to think that there is and have said I have been unlucky. I am not so sure, but feel there must be an existing weakness in my eyes to have ended up with these problems.

Oh well, hopefully one day we'll have all the answers.

Thank you again

Rachael
