Just returned from a very tiring morning at the hospital with my son. We have just seen a specialist in KC. Six weeks ago we saw a childrens consultant who told us all the info on KC. In the childrens department they don 't see any children with KC. We were in an adult clinic and have returned with alot more info. Firstly he is very reluctant to try any invasive surgery on a child so young. I guess at the beginning I did over-react and only saw a big problem with the end result being a graft. He had an eye test and topography done which had a figure in his bad eye at 77%. I am unsure what this means. The good news is that at the moment the KC is not in his right eye. We have now been told that they are going to try hard a hard contact lens to see if his vision will improve and if he can tolerate it. If not they will discuss other options in January. This forum was also recommended to us by the hospital. On a final note my son fell up the stairs at school I thought he did'nt see the step with him having poor vision in one eye but no I was wrong his shoe laces were undone! He found this very funny.
Kind Regards
Linda
Good news for now
