sos-medic alert

hi gareth and to everyone
if you recall i asked your opinions on a medical alert bracelet and you kindly pointed me to the medic alert site. i also inspected the sos - talisman site, and after careful consideration of the two options i've decided to go with sos - talisman alert. this is on the basis that your medical vitals are actually held in a disc on your person at all times for any medical or emergency services to access immediately. conversely, though the medic alert system looks very good, it relies on somebody being at the end of a phone to relay information verbally from a database, the worry is that if something happens when your not in a telephone network area and also the information is verbally transmitted once you have given an ID NO. wheras with the talisman it is actually written down on an information strip within the capsule on your wrist. also with the medic alert database system there is an annual renewal fee of £20 but the sos system is just the one off cost.
with watch type bracelet that i have selected there is also a corresponding lapel badge to say that you are a wearer, also a key ring and 2 window stickers , 1 for the car windscreen and 1 for the front door, which i think is excellent and all of this peace of mind for £45

what are other peoples thoughts and opinions on this?

I think both have their merits.

My medic alert is a watch style bracelet. It also came with a credit card which details the key information too for times I am not near a telephone network, but paramedics the worl over pretty much have radio communications to a central base that has a phone network.

I opted for medic alert based on the experiences of my sister inlaw who is a paramedic and a friend who travels the world and his medic alert bracelet has saved him many times.

Both are well recognised so I think bottom line is down to personal choice. The capsule is a good idea but I work in chemical environments that would corrode the seals on the capsule.
