Benefits system and KC?

Postby samba_elite » Sat 11 Nov 2006 9:59 pm

As ive posted elsewhere, ive recently suffered hydrops,im now back in the UK for a few months but as my chosen profession when here involves a lot of driving and the need to be alert on a dangerous building site i find i'm unable to get much of a job,has anyone ever felt the need to claim,or attempt to claim incapacity benefit due to this or any other KC related problems,i know that nowadays they are very hard on all but the most severe cases of incapacity in the benefits system, especially with temporary, fluctuating conditions.

It's an unfortunate fact that a great many people have fiddled the system when really they just dont want to work and it's made it hard for the people that genuinely need help.

As I understand it, if you are registered bline or partially sighted, you can claim inacpasity benefit. While I was registered blind I was told that I ought to claim, but as I was still able to work this seemed an excessive thing to do.

Go to your ophthalmologist and ask for more detials. All the best
