try putting in your sclerals over the sink and not the carpet! - if nothing else, it will stop the worry about wet carpets.
If you're concerned about dropping the lens in tsink and them breaking ont he stainless steel (or whatever), put a tea towel or jay cloth inthe bottom.
If your family have left it full of drity washing up - well, deal with the family first1
Bend right over. Like you're washing your hair under the mixer taps (yup, I'e done that before now.
Fill the lens up to the brim, hold it bowl-way up, keep bending right over, and don't straighten up till it is well and truly in.
To be honest, I can never tell when if I've got ir bubbles - I presume if I have, they are small ones.
The disadvange of bubbles is they can lead to shortage of oxygen - your cornea will use, and deplete the oxygen in the air bubble, and then there will be no more in the ir. But the oxugen-depleted bubble will stay there. Without the bubble, fresh tears will keep flowing through, bringing more oxygen.
The other porblem, with big bubbles, is blurry vision if they get in the way of what you want to look at.
I too have a lot of ghosting, particularly in my right eye. I think I sort-=of get used to it, so I can see passably - until I get too tired to concentrate hard.
You may find it easier, on the computer, to change the colour scheme round, so you ahve light letters on a black background. I find it far easier to read when the letters are light and making ghost letters, than when the back ground is makin lots of ghost background all over the letters.
Good luck with the sclerals - I'm glad they are comofrtable.

Hi Anne
Don't think that I can add any more for you really, it has all been said, I think.
What I can say is it seemed to take me ages to get used to putting my sclerals in bubble free. Handling them didn't seem to cause me any problems, they went in ok and came out ok (albeit that I pull my eyelids from nose to temple to pop the lenses out which, I seem to recall is the opposite way to that which is suggested on the leaflets supplied when you get sclerals - I alway was pretty odd!).
It always seemed that if I was in a hurry or had an appointment, they definately didn't go in bubble free and even now, 2years plus on this is still the case.
I also find (and I recall a male member once commenting the same) that I find it necessarry to insert them and then remove them 5 or 10 mins later giving a good rinse to remove and sticky/gloopy bits. If I don't do this I can guarantee I will find I get a floaty bit popping up, which almost always blurs or clouds my vision, just when least wanted. The answer to this I found was to just wait a few mins after first putting them in for the day and then remove, rinse off and re insert.
If you have any specific questions please post and I will answer as I can.
best wishes
Susan
PS I too have some ghosting, which I have been told they feel is down to scarring on the cornea making it impossible to impove the vision any further just at present.

don't let the people that mean nothing to you get you down, because in the end they are worth nothing to you, they are just your obstacles in life to trip you up!

Hi all
Thanks for the advice.
I have my lenses in with no air bubbles.
They feel a little bit irritated today., but i have run out of my opatonol drops so maybe its that. Should get some more tomorrow.
After i had my lenses in for 45 mins i started to get a shooting stabbing pain in my right eye, i took the lens out and fill it with some more Ami-Dose and that made it feel better. Is this normal?
Bit of a vain question now, has any one managed to get their sclerals in and put make up on, and gone out looking half attractive!
I feel like i have just done twenty lengths at the swimming pool. I've got mascara everywhere.
I'm going to go and scare the kids now with my Alice Cooper impression
Anne
P.S I still find the over the bed way the best!
and i have no carpet to worry about, only floor boards.

Not having a good day today
Had to go into town today, so ithought i would give my new lenses a try.
Well the double vision was awlful. Much worse than before..
I had to go to my doctors surgery to get a prescription and i couldnt even read what was on the paper an inch from my nose.
I didnt recognise people. Oh it was really bad
Also my eyes were itchy again and this stops as soon as i take out the lenses. The rims of my eyes are quiet sore.
My eyes are really blurred after i take out the lenses for about half n hour.
I am really fed up about this Nearly cried in the doctors and even the receptionist was nice (that is very rare
)
Sorry if i am boring you with my daily account of my lenses
Help something has to work.

Hopefully Anne the ye drops you need will help take some of the discomfort away and allow you to continue building up the wear time.
There are many of us who have had to build up lens wear over a longer period than the optom told us.
Keep perservering and I hope things get better for you soon.
