LC 65 discontinued?

Hello Peeps,
I've been trying to buy my LC 65 contact lens cleaning solution and Postoptics no longer list it. Apparently it has been discontinued.

Has anyone else had the same problem? Have you found any explanation, or been given a reliable alternative?

I brought some from boots the other day so its still around.At the moment

A lot of contact lens solutions have been discontinued lately and we are having trouble keeping up with it! I am afraid LC65 is one of them,obviusly there's some on the shelves at some opticians/pharmacies. Oxysept 1&2 is also discontinued, so is Opti-Free Supraclens.

I am slightly suspicious of the sudden disappearance of LC-65, since it is such a popular lens cleaner. Don't want to go scaremongering, but when things like this begin to disappear from the shelves sometimes it's followed by an announcement that the makers plants have been contaminated or whatever.

I'm proceeding with caution, but will happily use Amo's other solution, Total Care meanwhile.

Here is the reply I received from Postoptics:

Thank you for your enquiry.

Unfortunately LC65 has recently been discontinued by the manufacturer
and we have no more stock available - this is why it has been removed
from our website.

We recommend you speak to your optician in order to source an
alternative cleaner/cleaning regime for your lenses (please be aware
Miraflow cleaner is currently unavailable due to a manufacturing shut
down at Cibavision following a contamination problem).

If we can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact
us.

I think LC65 was around when I first has lenses 20 years ago.

With all these changes, I wonder if new chemicals are being used which have improved cleaning abilities.

It is also possible that there is rebranding taking place or the manufacturers are finding it hard to get people to change from the old to new solutions so force the issue and stop the old one in its tracks.

it nice that things are going forward but what about those like myself, that are intolerant to solutions.
I can only use oxysept 1+2 and lc65.
Oxysept i did manage to get from postoptics thank heavens.
With my new lens i have to use total care so hoping i can use it.

Yes, LC65 has been around a long time - the name apparently stands for "lens Cleaner 1965", which tells you when it first came out! There are a lot of changes at the moment, in response to the changing contact lens market where the vast majority wear soft lenses, and a high proportion of these are disposables. Doesn't help those whe HAVE to wear GPs, though!

Just got two bottles last week.

Now SoloCare for Gas Perms, that I can't find.

Mind you, it does not seem to matter what I use now as the soft lens cushion shields everything.

I have 4 bottles of optanol (hay fever) probably won't be used now.

I'm quite sure that, as someone points out above, that contact lens cleaning solutions have improved since LC 65 was introduced. But it's also clear that many people are still choosing to use it because it's one of the few preservative-free cleaning solutions for rigid/GP lenses available for those with sensitive/intolerant eyes.

These companies are supposed to serve the customer.

I would encourage as many people as possible to contact Amo and ask them to justify why they are discontinuing this item, and ask them to conduct a customer survery of the reasons people choose to use this and perhaps other solutions for rigid/GP lenses prior to withdrawing the cleaner from the market.

Having a chronic eye condition is quite enough of a challenge without the added issue of lens and solution tolerance and allergies.
Having to change and experiment with solutions brings added risks to the eyes as well as stress and inconvenience.

I'll get back in my box now.
