The optoms here say it is important to know if a lens hurts or not. They can see if the fit is good based on what they can see adn the vision is OK based on waht yo read on the chart, but only the patient can inform on comfort.

It is possible to get different types of RGP material that is more permeable.

You will have to ask questions regarding this first as they may feel the old lens that does not breath is the most gas permeable it can get.

Personally I would go without both lenses. If they hurt to me that means there is something wrong and if you have been told the old lenses do nto alow the cornea to breath, that can be just as damaging.

I would rather go a bit longer partially sighted and take time to resolve the problem. I did that with my right eye and after six months work we came up witha strategy that works and I am still on the original lens now 18 months old and just taken it out after 12 hours. Six months ago I would be lucky to go much more than an hour.

Good luck.
Gareth
