Gareth My employers brought in a new flexi-time system for my department and when the rules were explained all appointments, inlcuding hospital ones, had to be worked back. I challenged this and was told again that I had to work my hospital appointments back. This challenge, not just from myself, ha...

Hi Andrew

I think the thinking is that the contact lenses cancel out the effect of KC on my vision, allowing the distortion of the lens to be more prevalent. With just glasses on the two disorders cancel each other out to a degree.

I'll certainly keep visiting the site.

:| After another visit to the hospital today (over an hour's wait :x ) I'm told I do have a distorted lens to go with the KC, but that surgical correction is not recommended. As Contact Lenses allow the distortion in my eye lens to become prevalent, once the KC is taken out of the equation, CLs are ...

Good to hear from you Kerrie, it does make such a difference to know others are experiencing similar things. Strange that RGPs were seen as the last resort for you and the first for me. As I understand there are also scleral lenses, piggy backing (soft lens with hard on top) as well as the types you...

They are going to send me a letter to take to my consultant next week - so they can look into the possibility of lenticonus. So back to the hospital on Friday next week.

 Visited an optom from the list on this site today. Very good service, very thorough. Couldn't sort me and my lens problem out, but I would still recommend them. They seems to think there may be another problem as well as the KC, possibly lenticonus  , which would explain why lenses are ...

:D Thanks for suggesting the list Gareth. I decided to strike while the iron was hot, so to speak, and rang one of the optoms on the list. Very helpful, and optomistic, and willing in principle to try CLs the hospital won't - so I've booked a double appointment for next Thursday...fingers crossed. N...

I didn't think you dismissive at all Andrew, all this discussion leads me to the conclusion I might be better going to another hospital/optom. I don't know whether options are being brushed aside for valid reasons that are not explained well, or because I live in the NHS region with the highest debt...

Sorry if I'm not making sense. I'm pretty confused too. I'm being fitted by a hospital optom. I've tried multiple pairs of RGPs - all were excruitiating, none of them gave me good vision, but all of them 'fit'. They then tried what I now know to be Kerasoft. I tried clear with glasses on and got pre...
