RGP toric lens breaking in half

I've been having an eye fitted for a toric RGP lens. It's needed several reviews for increasing the power. Cleaning it in the usual way has resulted in it breaking twice within 4 weeks. This kind of lens is thinner than the RGP for the other eye, its a bit bigger and much flatter. It's clear than co...

Re: Saline difficulties

Thanks Anne, yes I've explored every single route, including gadgets. I actually use a lightweight mini size pair of pliers for the twist off caps!!! The Total Care conditioning solution is a better shape and less rigid plastic than Boston Advance. The Bausch & Lomb sensitive eyes saline used to...

Saline difficulties

Recurring tendinitis makes squeezing saline bottles especially hard. I've had to use Hypaclens pods, which costs me up to £500 per year. I've asked Moorfields optometry if they could raise this with manufacturer's. Lots of people have musculoskeletal issues ie arthritis etc. If the committee felt ab...

Re: Lifespan

It's really hard, especially when we have substantial histories. I've been told my oldest graft done in the 1980s could last my lifetime. I'm not sure how they know that unless we have 100 yr old graft pts! I've only found out recently that repeated surgery scar tissue can be what can cause a lamell...

What do you think about this?

I have concerns. Some patients may not feel able to assert themselves.

Re: Saline suggestions?

Thank you. I find supermarket bottles, Lens Pure, most of the 360ml bottles are OK till halfway then too much squeeze needed. I had wondered about cheaper first aid eye saline bottles: https://www.medisave.co.uk/products/koolpak-sterile-eyewash-500ml-bottle Being decanted into softer squeeze bottle ...

Saline suggestions?

If anyone has any suggestions..

I use the Bausch & Lomb sensitive eyes saline, the bottles work best for me with recurring tendinitis as other bottles hurt to squeeze.
B&L saline is being discontinued and I don't know what to do.
To use small 120ml or ampules would be very expensive.
